New North Harbor Passenger Terminal in Manila to Open by the End of April -- Good news is here from our maritime side of the industry as the new North Harbor Passenger Terminal gets a schedule to open at the end of April this year. According to Manila North Harbour Port Inc (MNHPI) chief executive officer Richard Barclay during the recently conducted 7th Philippine Ports and Shipping Conference, the new facility is expected to increase traffic by 10 percent.
Barclay revealed that the new north harbor passenger hub, a 2,000-passenger terminal, took P200 million from the company's budget. It will be housing the main building, ticketing area/concessions, drop-off area and access, and parking area.

The cargo handling part of the harbor terminal is hoped to operate in full by the first week of May.

It is good that the MNHPI got the contract to effect modernization for the North Harbor. Aside from the construction parts, the P14.5 billion project will also be spent to conduct dredging operations, acquire heavy equipments and other necessary things such as computers for the planned computerization program to ensure smooth flow of cargo and passengers.
