China Bridge Collapses, at Least 26 Dead

China Bridge Collapses, at Least 26 Dead -- Over a dozen of lives lost when a fireworks-laden lorry exploded while crossing the expressway bridge in the central province of Henan on Friday, China National Radio reported.
State-media said that at least an 80-metre long section of the bridge collapsed while six (6) vehicles plunged with the fallen debris. As of press time, rescue operations are underway.

The said bridge is on the G30 expressway, the longest one in China. It stretches about 4,400km with Kazakhstan to the eastern Yellow Sea.

Chinese new year is about here and this explosion, which resulted to the collapse of a certain section of the expressway bridge will affect the travel plans of the millions of Chinese residents going to their hometowns. Coincidentally, this early of the year too, marks the season when the country produces bulks of explosives to celebrate the Lunar New Year festival.
