MMDA Started to Remove Illegal Waiting Sheds Along EDSA

MMDA Started to Remove Illegal Waiting Sheds Along EDSA -- The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) started the removal of illegal waiting sheds along EDSA on Thursday. This is part of the agency's plight to improve its already implemented bus segregation scheme.

At this stage, MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino already identified at least six (6) illegally built waiting sheds along EDSA stretch, as per the following list:
  1. Kaingin
  2. Reliance
  3. Ortigas - MRT Station
  4. Shaw Blvd. – Starmall
  5. Main Avenue
  6. Bansalangin
Tolentino said the unofficial structures cause confusions among commuters and bus drivers; Such have been mistaken as legitimate stops or passenger pick up areas.
These structures have caused confusion among commuters and bus drivers, particularly with the implementation of the bus segregation scheme, as they have been mistaken as legitimate bus stops
On Thursday, two (2) waiting sheds made it to the final rest day; MMDA personnel removed the shed at Reliance (Southbound), that one near the Victor R. Potenciano Medical Center, then the one near Starmall, near Shaw Blvd. (Southbound). Others will be joining the roster sooner or later, since the said waiting sheds sprouted without any clearance from MMDA.

I've seen those planted like sprinkled seeds on the roadsides. Some even stand side by side and seemingly exist just to accommodate specific establishments, if not a medium for future campaign materials during elections.
