COMELEC Gun Ban Starts on January 13, 2013 -- The Philippine's Commission on Elections reminds everyone that the national gun ban will be taking effect from January 13. The reminder was issued by the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday, in preparation for the coming elections in May.
Said Metro Manila police chief Director Leonardo Espina:
Starting January 13, no firearms outside residence. Lahat na kababayan natin who were given licenses and Permits to Carry Firearms Outside Residence (PTCFORs) are suspended until June 12
Exempted from the gun ban are law enforcement agency members in uniform and on duty. These includes the PNP, Armed Forces of the Philippines and the National Bureau of Investigation. However, they cannot carry their guns outside their residences and when they are not on duty.
