STOLEN (2012) Movie by Nicolas Cage on SM Cinema Free Movie Day

STOLEN (2012) Movie by Nicolas Cage on SM Cinema Free Movie Day -- I have to thank SM Cinema free movie day for providing this movie slot, and of course for the last minute reminder about the extension of the redemption of my free movie ticket voucher.  I was heading to Megamall to attend the 1st Grand Eyeball of the Filipino Bloggers Worldwide so I had to drop by SM North EDSA to claim the tickets.

The movie was a typical action, drama and a blend of thriller genre. It's got Cage as a former thief, forced to find his missing daughter who has been kidnapped and locked inside the trunk of a taxi. He was chasing a former stealing mate Josh Lucas (Vincent), who thought that Will Montgomery (Cage) fled with the cash money they stole from a bank. Cage had to burn them all up when he got cornered by the FBI in a warehouse.

Some say, this movie is nothing special. Except for the golden reputation of Nick perhaps, the moves and sequences are very predictable and seemingly, was done on quite of a low budget. The scenes location pretty look the same and familiar. Nonetheless, Cage's caliber in delivering any kind of role is more than enough for me.

On the side notes, a group of women seated at our back, in their mid 40s I think, kept on talking loud during the run of the film. These people should get the real job of being story tellers in a carnival or something. They were like talking about every sequence of the movie and explaining to each other what just happened. If that's what they intended to do, they should have allowed one of their friends to watch the movie then listen to the story later in a coffee session. Some people are just too insensitive - more than 4 people transferred to the front rows, farther from the said group, just to get away from the annoying conversation.

So yes, they practically "stole" my precious moments to watch "Stolen".

Anyways, here's my refreshment from CaffeXpress before entering the cinema. Meet Ciocollato Caramelo and Capuccino Freddo.

  2. Nicholas Cage movie is surely a hit because of his action pack and good portrayal. I hate it too when people are making such noise in the movie house, why not save it after the show, they are really insensitive.

  3. hmm... i'll look for this movie in the net. Now that we have a larger TV set, it must be pretty good watching this action flick. Hay... true, people can be very insensitive and simply put... no manners.

  5. Oh well, some people can just be insensitive when it comes to movie house. Looks like just a typical action movie anchored on Nicolas Cage's fame.

  11. Wow! Free Movie day. I would have watched it because I like Nick Cage. Although, I'm not a big fan of his acting. It's kinda the same. Whatever character he plays, he kinda plays it the same. :(

  17. I always want to watch Hollywood movies like that action, is that true that is free?

  18. Not a fan of Nicolas Cage. In fact, I only watched his 'Treasure' films for the historical value.

Regarding your question, no, I didn't avail of the SM movie deal :)

Slightly off-topic, I'd like to recommend the kiddie animated film "Rise of the Guardian". Really good story line, very well-told.

  20. Stolen sounds like it has been done before. Nicholas Cage comes up with another B-movie quickie in the tradition of Wicker Man, Season of the Witch and Trespass. When will he ever do another Leaving Las Vegas???

  21. We watched house at the end of street at the free movie day. It was a good one (Jennifer Lawrence is a hottie hehe) but how I wish it was Nicolas Cage's movie we watched.

  23. Wasn't able to watch during the sm cinema's free movie day - but I already watched stolen already. It's a cross between TAKEN and GONE IN 60 Seconds but with the bank robbing theme. Plot is ordinary and not original but I do love action movies so to hell with the plot hehe. :)

  24. Wow a free movie day from SM. How do you avail of that? Or is it part of your SM Advantage card treat?

I wish they could also feature shows like Ocean's Heaven and Like Stars on Earth in their free movie days.

  26. I have a voucher for the free movie day too. But I didn't get the chance to claim my ticket. I thought I can claim my ticket that day too. We're gonna watch End of Street, but there will always be next time for me. :)
