EDSA Bus Segregation Scheme Starts Today, Dec. 18 (Tue)

EDSA Bus Segregation Scheme Starts Today, Dec. 18 (Tue) -- After Bus E-tagging, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is up for yet, another traffic management measure; It will be implementing the EDSA Bus Segregation Scheme from today, December 18 (Tue), wherein certain groups of buses have to stop at the designated points along EDSA corridor; Bus A stops at A bus stop. Bus B stops at B bus stop. Bus C is all stops. This covers the 3,100 buses plying the stretch of EDSA, according to MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino.
We have given bus operators sufficient time to have their bus units tagged, so buses that have not been tagged, or those that have no stickers, will not be allowed on Edsa starting tomorrow
This could be a tough challenge for the MMDA. It will take serious and effective personnel deployment, as well as enforcement and coordination. The system will be enforced from Magallanes Interchange to East Avenue intersection and vice versa.
Buses A and B can only use their designated A and B bus stops respectively. "C" buses on the other hand, will be allowed to use all bus stops.
BUS A Stop Points (Northbound, NB):
Magallanes, Buendia, Guadalupe, Shaw Blvd., SM Megamall, Boni Serrano, Cubao Farmers, and Ermin Garcia. Southbound: Ermin Garcia, Arayat Cubao, VV Soliven, Connecticut, Shaw Starmall, Guadalupe, Buendia Ave., and Mantrade. Bus A stops are painted red.

BUS B Stop Points (Northbound, NB):
Ayala Ave., Estrella, Pioneer / Boni, SM Megamall, Ortigas Ave., Main Ave., and Baliwag / 5 Star. Southbound: Kamuning, Monte de Piedad, Main Ave., POEA Ortigas, Pioneer / Boni, Estrella, and Ayala Ave. Bus B stops are painted blue.
Buses with mark A - allowed to take the Kamuning-Timog, Santolan, and Ortigas flyovers
Buses with mark B (Northbound buses) - allowed at the Santolan flyover

Chairman Tolentino believes that the new scheme will decongest EDSA significantly.

Let's see what happens as the new rules roll out. Good luck MMDA!
