1,000 Baclaran Vendors Get Space for Stalls

1,000 Baclaran Vendors Get Space for Stalls -- Your beloved Metro Manila will somehow feel another ease from traffic, specially in the Baclaran area wherein MMDA implemented a program to ensure orderliness of the vendors in the busy district. The development authority assigned some one thousand ambulant vendors with their respective space for stalls measuring 1x3 meter area.

MMDA launched the program yesterday at 10am in Baclaran, with MMDA Chair Francis Tolentino present to witness and monitor the initial run of the program.

MMDA Assistant general manager for operations Emerson Carlos said, the vendors will occupy the space near the Redemptionist Church on Roxas Boulevard, where a jeepney terminal used to exist. It is a clear statement from the MMDA that no fees shall be collected from the vendors. Moreover, the vendors can share their space with the others.

Other things being pondered upon by the MMDA is a solution to the long-standing congestion problem in the area caused by both jeepneys and their passengers.

Jeepney route and terminal area or facility are also included in the plans of the MMDA.

  1. good to know that MMDA is doing something to de-congest traffic in Baclaran area especially this Christmas season, that are rushing to buy their gifts for their friends, relatives and "inaanak".
