2 Pinoys in 2012 Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World (TOYP)

TOYP 2 Pinoys in 2012 Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World (TOYP) -- In the recently conducted recognition of the outstanding young persons of the world, at least two (2) Filipinos were named among the awardees. Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV and Dr. Edsel Maurice Salvana took home the honor, among the eight other recipients.

The award was given during the world convention of the Junior Chamber International (JCI) at the auditorium of Dr. Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park.
The JCI is an international non-profit membership organization of 200,000 individuals aged 18 to 40 from more than 100 countries. The TOYP award is given to individuals below 41 years old.
According the JCI president Bertoit Daem, the awardees were chosen because:
..they seek excellence and become examples for the world to follow
Daem added that for this year, 115 individuals from 37 countries made it to the final screening but only 10 were chosen for the award. Bam Aquino was chosen for his "extraordinary work in social enterprise for the underprivileged in his country with his Hapinoy program for the Filipinos".

Moreover, Dr. Edsel Maurice Salvana was chosen for the award due to his extraordinary work in awareness and treatment of HIV/AIDS.

Congratulations to Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV and Dr. Edsel Maurice Salvana for making it to the TOYP 2012.
