Cyberscammers Attack Chikka Users -- Users of the Philippine text messenger service Chikka have been warned about the recent attacks initiated by some group of Cyberscamers. According to GFI Labs, an award winning IT security and solutions provider:
The scam comes in the form of a Facebook app, enticing users to download, install, and promote the service called ChikkaLoad to all their contacts in order to get a free P300 worth of phone credits or load
By banking on the popularity of this unique service with a solid market, cybercriminals have taken scamming to new grounds
So the next time you get to see this kind of apps knocking at your Facebook accounts, don't hesitate to clear it out immediately. Also, there could be duplicates of it, so be extra vigilant on what Facebook app you are going to use.
What the app does it that:
  • It will lead you to an apps page named "ChikkaLoadPH", which may look like a real Chikka page.
  • It will encourage you to promote the application via social media sites  
  • It will ask you to fill up a survey form, with the promise that you will get your load freebie
But no matter how you accomplish the required procedure, you as the victim will be left hanging without getting anything, while the scammers get their commission from every survey returns.

So beware.
