Black Friday Deals to Avoid: Things Not to Buy -- "Black Friday", a bargain and sale hype in the US, which happens on the day following Thanksgiving Day, is now closely approaching. This is equivalent to Philippine's Christmas shopping season. During this day, retailers usually open extremely earlier than what they normally do. Although Black Friday is not an official holiday;
..non-retail employers also observe this day as a holiday along with Thanksgiving, giving their employees the day off, thereby increasing the number of potential shoppers. It has routinely been the busiest shopping day of the year since 2005.
With all the bargain hype and sale mania, shoppers should also take into account what things not to buy during shopping the craze. Specially now that "Fiscal Cliff" is about to come, budget cuts on things that are less needed at home should be considered. Now, let's take a look at CNN Money's list of things to avoid when indulging the buy out season.
  1. Toys -- Ads on the season's hottest toys could be everywhere in your neighborhood by this time. They could be from Toys R Us, Wal-Mart (WMT, Fortune 500) and Sears (SHLD, Fortune 500). But according to PayPal shopping specialist Claudia Lombana, a much bigger discount can be availed on two weeks before Christmas time - the time when retailers are trying to get rid of the products. So think about timing!
  2. Brand name HD TVs -- Tempting deals on flat panel TVs could lead you to buy one during the Black Friday shopping rush but experts say, the best prices on high end HDTVs are usually during January and February, when manufacturers are prepping up to make or release new spring models.
  3.  Clothing -- A 50% off deal for the top of the line clothes that you've been craving for maybe a do or die thing but this season may not be your best timing. Hana Ben-Shabat, a retail partner at consultant A.T. Kearney, says clothes and shoes are usually at a lower discount as the season wears. So that means, it is best to buy winter clothes when winter is about to go.
  4. Digital cameras -- Black Friday could be your most awaited day to buy a high-end DSLR within your tight budget pack, but just like HD TVs, new models are expected for release in February, so cameras to be replaced in the shelves can be way cheaper than what they are during the shopping holiday.
  5. Christmas decorations -- Don't be lured by the pretty carols being played during the bargain and sale on Black Friday! Resist the urge if you can. Christmas decorations are best bought after the holiday season.

Here in the Philippines, the like of "Black Friday" is almost always the talk of the town. We got plenty of sales going on, almost every other month actually. The streets become a lot more chaotic due to the high volumes of passenger and vehicle traffic.
