PAGASA Monitors New Tropical Cyclone: OFEL

PAGASA Monitors New Tropical Cyclone -- There could be a new tropical cyclone to hit the Philippines, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), as per revealed by forecaster Elvie Enrique on Friday. In the state of being a low pressure area (LPA) at the moment, the possible tropical cyclone is projected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by the east. (Scroll down for related updates!)

Enrique said in a radio interview by dzBB:
May nagbabanta na low-pressure area na maaring by Monday pumasok sa atin. Sa Pacific part manggagaling. Bigyan natin ng 50-50 chance (There is a threatening low pressure area that may enter Philippines by Monday. It will be coming from the Pacific part. Let's give it a 50-50 chance)
The chance is given due to the possibility that a high-pressure area in the north may deter the weather from executing a landfall.

Should the said LPA become a cyclone, it will be codenamed as Ofel.

Meanwhile, there is a northeast monsoon sweeping the Northern part of Luzon, while the easterlies from the East are slapping Mindanao areas.
Eastern Visayas and the whole Mindanao will be cloudy with occasional moderate to heavy rain showers and thunderstorms. Cagayan Valley and the Ilocos region will have occasional light rain. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy with brief rain showers or thunderstorms (PAGASA)
As said, in other parts of the country, winds of light to moderate intensity maybe experienced.

Be safe fellow urban dwellers and of course, those in the directly affected regions of the country. We've been having a lot of tropical depressions, storms and the like, in the past months or so. Get your emergency hotline numbers and safety kits ready, just in case. Better be safe that sorry.
