Tropical Depression Helen - New Storm to Enter Philippines

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported on Sunday that its last spotted low pressure has turned into a Tropical Depression - Helen. This was last seen at 750 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora, while moving at a speed of 11 kph in a west northwestly direction.

As per latest update, there has been no storm warning pronounced by the weather bureau. Tropical Depression Helen is currently packing center winds of about 55 kph.

Helen is expected to bring southwest monsoon to Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Here is the latest satellite image from PAGASA. (MTSAT ENHANCED-IR Satellite Image, 1:32 a.m., 13 August 201)
Let's hope that this will not escalate to a stage that is similar to what he had last week. The monsoon rains caused heavy floods in Metro Manila and its adjoining provinces. Wherein, according to the latest news, the death toll has already reached 85. Take a look at this list of flooded areas prepared by the MMDA for an overview. Until now, about half a million of the families and individuals affected by last week's inclement weather are still confined in the designated evacuation centers.
