MMDA Plans for All Souls Day 2011 - Oplan Kaluluwa

In view dealing with the coming of All Souls Day on November 1, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) cooperated with the concerned government agencies, including private and civic organizations to devise a system management and operations plan - "Oplan Kaluluwa"

The entities involved are: Rotary chapters, Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Information Agency (PIA), representatives of the different traffic bureaus of the 17 local governments in Metro Manila (MM), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), and Center for Health and Development (CHD). The plan includes traffic flow management and rerouting schemes to ensure safety and security of the public. The move promises a dispatch of additional MMDA traffic enforcers on the road to administer in providing smooth flow of the vehicles and pedestrians going to the cemeteries.

However, assistant general manager for Operations Emerson S. Carlos appealed to avoid EDSA as much as possible. For that, C-5, Katipunan, Tandang Sora, Congressional Avenue, and Mindanao leading to NLEX maybe used to get through NLEX.

Those going to South Luzon Expressways (SLEX) may use MMDA's "Mabuhay lanes": A. Bonifacio, Magsaysay boulevard, Nagtahan, C-5, and President Quirino Avenue.
